Finally, there it is. February 19th, 2019 and I finally have my own website live. I know I should have done this a long time ago.

After all: there are so many obvious benefits to having your own website and particularly a blog. So why haven't I done this way earlier?

To tell you the truth, it's because I'm somewhat of a snob. I spent so much time learning to code in the last 24 months or so, that I just couldn't stomach launching a standard one-size-fits-all WordPress blog.

I wanted something that I could hack on, experiment with and learn to understand from A to Z, preferably built on NodeJS; the modern serverside language that I'm most familiar with.

I tried out ApostropheCMS at first, and although it seems very powerful, it was definitely also overkill for my use case: a personal website where I can share my thoughts and showcase the projects I'm working on. So I'm using Ghost.

And now I have my own website. My own home on the internet where I'm currently writing my very first blog.

This is great.
